What is Network Cloud?
Network Cloud is a new paradigm for deploying cloud-based network infrastructure on a regional or global basis in a cloud centric, as-a-service model. Enterprises utilize the Network Cloud to extend their network into single and multi-cloud environments, interconnect branch and data center locations across a global routed backbone, enforce granular network and security policy, and deploy L4-L7 network services, all via an intuitive network design canvas.
In contrast to traditional network architectures, the Network Cloud enables instant-on, feature rich networking in a pay-as-you-go fashion, avoiding the cost and complexity of managing colocation facilities, deploying physical hardware, or purchasing upfront software licensing. Consumers of the Network Cloud can choose the capacity and functions that are right for their specific needs and as business requirements evolve the network can quickly and easily adapt through simple, highly automated configuration. In addition, administrators benefit from a maintenance free, ever-green environment that is continuously updated with new capabilities.
The defining characteristics of a Network Cloud service include:
- as-a-Service delivery enabling rapid deployment and maintenance free operation.
- Enterprise grade networking to support the most demanding environments through flexible route control, segmentation, and policy based forwarding.
- Global reach with points of presence available in major cities across the world interconnected through a high speed backbone.
- Elastic scale allowing the network capacity and reach to expand and contract based on changing business needs.
- L4-L7 services instantiation such as Firewall, NAT and Load Balancing to manage application traffic
- Rich visibility and analytics to visualize and report on network performance and activity
- Automated public cloud networking providing enhanced capabilities
and a uniform operational model across diverse cloud service providers. - Intuitive visual design canvas to enable immediate deployment without the need for product specific training
- Programmatic interfaces to allow for automation using industry leading automation tools and programming languages.
